Showtime has released the trailer for a documentary about David Johansen, American musician and leader of the glam punk band The New York Dolls. Directed by Martin Scorsese with David Tedeschi.
The documentary is named after one of the band’s most popular songs, “Personality Crisis: One Night Only.” The film focuses on Johansen’s performance at a New York Jazz Club in 2020 and reflects on the group’s impact on New York’s cultural life.
“I have known David for decades and his work has meant a lot to me since the filming of Mean Streets. His music reflects the energy of New York, the admiration that the city arouses. I often see David perform, and over the years I have learned the depth of musical inspiration from him,” Scorsese quotes Indiewire.
Earlier, the streaming service Hulu abandoned the production of the series “The Devil in the White City” – the project was in operation for more than a decade. Produced by Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio.
