The owners of the TikTok social network began negotiating with potential buyers amid statements by US authorities to ban the application in the United States. The New York Post writes about it.
“TikTok is considering its options and exploring possible deals that were considered earlier when Donald Trump, as president, threatened to ban the app in 2020,” a source told the publication.
With whom exactly negotiations are taking place, it is not yet reported. In 2020, the US software maker Oracle and the retailer Walmart were among the potential buyers. If a deal were to be reached then, one of these corporations could take control of TikTok’s US subsidiary, user data and US content moderation.
It was previously known that TikTok is investing 1.2 billion euros in the construction of European data centers. Two of them will open in Ireland, in Dublin. We talk about it in more detail here.
