The president of the French Football Federation, Noel Le Gré, has apologized to coach Zinedine Zidane for saying he was not going to speak to him even on the phone.
“I would like to apologize for these comments, which do not at all reflect my thoughts on him neither as a player, which he was, nor as a coach, what he became. The media wanted him to face two French soccer legends, Didier Deschamps and Zinedine Zidane. I admit that I made some awkward comments that caused misunderstandings. Zinedine Zidane knows how much respect I have for him,” read a statement sent to the French press.
Before the World Cup in Qatar, Zidane was supposed to replace Deschamps as head coach of France. However, Deschamps after the World Cup final signed a new contract until the end of the 2026 World Cup.
