Leonid Erman, director of Sovremennik and the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater, has died at the age of 96. The information appeared on the official website of the Moscow Art Theater.
“Leonid Iosifovich Erman, Honored Artist of Russia, legendary director of Sovremennik and the Moscow Art Theater, has passed away. He was 96 years old, and all his long and accomplished life he devoted himself to the theater without a trace, ”writes the press service of the Moscow Art Theater.
The farewell will take place on January 10 at 12:00 in the ritual hall of the Moscow Regional Research Clinical Institute (MONIKI).
“Leonid Iosifovich was and will forever remain a guide for us, an example of how to live and work in the theater, how to do theater,” the Moscow Art Theater said in a statement.
