“We repeat once more. The Russian Federation has agreed to extend the deal for 60 days,” the diplomat said.
Recall that the agreement in question was signed in Istanbul in July 2022. It involved the creation of a corridor for the export of grain from Ukraine, as well as the removal of restrictions on the export of Russian food and fertilizers. The Russian Federation decided to extend the “grain deal” for 60 days after its expiration on March 18. As the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Vershinin, noted, this time is enough to realistically assess whether the promises regarding Russian exports will be fulfilled. On Friday, the spokesman for the Russian presidency, Dmitry Peskov, also confirmed that the deadline for extending the grain deal would be 60 days, not 120 as it was before.
Earlier, the United Nations Organization (UN) noted the fact of the extension of the term of the “product agreement”, and called on the parties to redouble their efforts to comply with both parts of it. At the same time, no specific dates were reported.
