Rural accommodations have become the ‘ugly duckling’ among non-hotel accommodations since mid-summer. The National Institute of Statistics (INE) has published this Tuesday the occupancy data for the month of November and the trend continues, rural stays decreased for the fourth consecutive month compared to the data of the previous year. Although in the eleventh month of 2022 the distance is 2.2 percentage points, compared to the drop of 13.2% registered in the month of October in the annual comparison. On the other hand, non-hotel accommodation experienced an increase of 11.9% in overnight stays in this period, accumulated mainly by tourist apartments (+12.9%), but also driven by campsites (+8.1%).
