The article, citing an unnamed French official, notes that Paris is increasing pressure on Germany in the hope of getting Berlin’s consent to send Leopard to Ukraine before the Franco-German summit on January 22.
The same pressure, according to the publication, is exerted by Poland, which wants to form a broad coalition in the West to transfer German-made tanks to Kyiv, reports RIA Novosti.
The newspaper’s interlocutor also noted that French President Emmanuel Macron, by announcing the dispatch of French armored fighting vehicles to Kyiv, was seeking to “break the taboo” of transferring Western tanks to Ukraine so that “the Germans would move.”
Earlier it was reported that Warsaw is considering the possibility of transferring a “symbolic” batch of German Leopard tanks to Ukraine. According to the representative of the Office of the Polish President, Jakub Kumoch, we are talking about “symbolic support and participation in the coalition of several countries”, and Poland will not do anything alone.
