Together with the public, the head of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov, the former plenipotentiary representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Kazan Federal District and the North Caucasian Federal District Oleg Belaventsev, singer Denis Maidanov, deputies of the republic’s parliament they took part in the action.
– It is symbolic that the start of the action coincides with the Day of the reunification of Crimea with Russia, – said Sergey Aksyonov. – Crimea carefully preserves the historical memory of its great ancestors, and the trees planted today will become the personification of the continuity of generations.
Oleg Belaventsev reminded that each planted tree is a memory of those who fell during the Great Patriotic War. It is especially important not to forget about this on days when a special military operation is taking place in Ukraine. Denis Maidanov called today’s action a noble mission of the descendants of those who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of the country.
The international action “Garden of Memory” has been carried out since 2020 to perpetuate the memory of the 27 million who died during the Great Patriotic War. This year, the action began simultaneously in more than ten regions of the south of the country, including the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics. In Crimea, on March 18, trees were also planted in Sevastopol, Alushta, Yalta and other cities and towns on the peninsula.
The “Garden of Memory” action is part of the national project “Ecology”.
