They finished second in their division that year and made it to the playoffs, but were eliminated by Montreal Canadiens.
In 2007, they changed their name to the Florida Panthers and moved back to Amalie Arena for their second season in franchise history. They finished first in their division that year and qualified for their first ever Stanley Cup Playoffs where they faced off against Montreal Canadiens. In 2018, new ownership took over control of the Florida Panthers Hockeytown and renovated Amalie Arena into what is now known as “Panthers Live!” The arena provides an amazing view of South Florida from its ice surface which allows fans to experience all sorts of activities related to hockey while being within walking distance of all things Panther related including restaurants, bars, shops, concerts, exhibition games etc.—all without havingto leave their seats!
