Drama “Tar” with Cate Blanchett received the main award of the National Society of Film Critics

The National Society of Film Critics presented the awards. On this occasion, Tar, starring Cate Blanchett, was recognized as the best film of the past 2022. The film was also awarded in two more categories: “Best Actress” and “Best Screenplay”. Variety writes about it.

Tar was Todd Field’s first film since 2006’s Like Little Children, which starred Patrick Wilson and Kate Winslet. The plot tells of a fictional composer who is widely known throughout the world, as she became the first woman to hold the post of chief conductor of a major German orchestra.

The award winner is also Colin Farrell (“Best Actor” in Martin McDonagh’s comedy “Banshee Inisherina”). He is followed by Paul Mescal (“My Sun”). Michelle Yeoh won second place for her role in the metamodern comedy Everything Everywhere at Once.

Charlotte Wells (My Sunshine) won Best Director, while Io was Best Foreign Language Film. The award in the “Best Documentary” category went to the film “All Beauty and Bloodshed.” Previously, the film was selected as the best film at the Venice Film Festival.
