According to them, the US military does not intend to completely stop flying its drones in the Black Sea region until they complete this analysis, RIA Novosti reports. The Pentagon wants to weigh the costs and benefits of such missions, weighing “the potential intelligence value of this route against the risk of escalating tensions with Russia.”
The sources also claim that shortly after the loss of the drone, Washington sent the same MQ-9 Reaper UAV to the drop zone. Their task was to survey the scene, as well as observe the Russian military and the alleged attempts to recover the wreckage of the drone.
Now the United States is studying the possibility of launching another UAV over the Black Sea in the coming days.
Let us remember that on March 14, an American drone took off from an air base in Romania and, with the transponders turned off, headed towards the border with Russia. The Russian Aerospace Forces discovered the object, the Su-27 fighters rose into the air, flew in, made sure that it was a drone, turned around and “blew up” it with a stream of air. The drone went into an uncontrolled flight, lost altitude and crashed into the surface of the water.
