The Last of Us video game series will not be shown in Russia at the same time as the world premiere. This was reported by “Championship” with reference to the online cinema “Amediateka”.
Representatives for the publication said they have no additional information on the launch of the program. However, they stressed that the situation could change in the future. Most likely, the decision to show the series in Russia has not yet been made.
According to the “Championship”, although the series is released by HBO, whose content is still available on the service, the copyright holder of The Last of Us is Sony. The company suspended its activities in Russia in March 2022. The outlet implies that Sony did not give permission to distribute the project in any way in the country.
However, Amediateka’s press service confirmed to Poster Daily that The Last of Us will not appear on the platform in January. Whether it will be shown to Russian viewers in the future is still unknown.
The first episode was supposed to be directed by Kantemir Balagov, but the director left the project over a year ago due to creative differences with the team. He is currently producing his first film in English. Read more here.
